Having a blog makes you think...

This is my first time blogging. I had put up three posts previously, but I decided to take them down. At first I looked at this blog as a kind of running diary. The more I thought about it though, the more I questioned if having my diary for everyone to see was such a great idea. The whole point of the diary is to be able to talk about personal feelings in a venue that no one else will read, thereby being safe. So I've decided to not put things on my blog that could later come and bite me where the sun don't shine. Instead I'm going to use this blog to talk about things in chemistry, in frisbee, and in other aspects of my life that I find interesting.

So the topic for today is working out. I hate working out. However, after seeing pictures of myself in Hawaii, I decided something needed to be done.

I had always said to myself when I was in college that I never wanted to be overweight, and yet here we are. I'm the guy on the left. It would be funny if there wasn't some truth to it.To preface why I am a bit overweight in my eyes, I've been pretty injury ridden since July 08. That, plus the fact that I've never been Arnold during T1 has led to the sorry state of my body today.

So to the point now. even though I hate working out, I've decided to make an effort to eat better (which means no eating this) and go to the gym, and as the saying goes you gotta start somewhere. So I went to the gym yesterday to lift some weights. Now, granted I went at 7 pm which seems to be peak time at the gym, but the place was packed. Not only that, because Spring Break is a week away the gym was packed with every muscle head dude imaginable. Now I'm REALLY weak so it's a little intimidating. The other thing that struck me as weird was the fact that there were girls at the gym not really working out but primping their hair. WTF?

Hopefully I'll start working out on a regular basis. I've learned from past experience though to not overdue it. Start with small goals. So right now I am aiming for an intense workout three times a week and we'll go from there. Now if I was really serious about losing weight, I'd stop drinking beer. On second thought, being overweight doesn't seem like such a bad thing. Hmmmmm.
