My friend beer

I remember a time in my life when I looked at drinking beer as a bad thing.  When I was in high school, my friends and I thought that drinking beer was just dumb.  We convinced ourselves that we could have a good time without beer, and we did have a good time.  My first couple of years at college were the same way.  For the longest time I never saw the need to imbibe in alcohol.  Then everything changed one fateful summer evening after a summer league game in Atlanta.  We had just finished and I was hanging out with a couple of older guys on the team who were frisbee legends.  They offered me a beer and I remember taking it because I wanted to be cool.  It was alright.  Tasted kinda weird.  But now, oh how times have changed.

Today I enjoy beer.  I enjoy the taste and smell.  If my young self saw me today, what would young Raj say.  I bet he'd think I was an idiot, and I'd tell young Raj to loosen up.  There's more to life than getting good grades.  There's a lot to experience in the world, both good and bad.  Man, young Raj sure was a dork, but at least he had hair.

  1. Wow... I was the same way. I never drank in highschool... not even on senior week. And in college I never really drank until I was 21. And I can't even remember when I said to myself, I really like this!

  3. Young Margaret was like young Raj, but she could always appreciate a deal. Perhaps you could show young Raj your PBR card.
