What is the deal with bottled water? Why do people buy it by the case? I understand if you are out and about and without a water bottle or a water source to fill said water bottle, so you decide to buy bottled water to quench a thirst, but people leave Sam's Club and Costco with cases of the stuff. One would think that they are bathing in it. Tap water in my opinion is fine. If you're little queasy about it, then use a Brita or something. Bottled water is just stupid. It takes so much energy to bottle water. The issue is the plastic. Ever wonder where the plastic for plastic water bottles comes from. It comes from oil you joker. Apparently, Worldwide, 2.7 million tons of plastic are used each year to make water bottles, but in the U.S., less than 20 percent of these bottles are recycled. Also, the total estimated energy needed to make, transport, and dispose of one bottle of water is equivalent to filling the same bottle one-quarter full of oil. Just google "waste and bottled water" and you come up with all kinds of reasons why buying bottled water is a waste of momey and resources. I personally like my Nalgene. I'm able to put stickers on it and what not to personalize it. So the next time you think that you need to buy 20 gallons of bottled water because it's healthier for you, ask the question is it healthy for our planet.
